List of preferred educational background for 2006

The list of preferred educational backgrounds is primarily intended to promote the selection of candidates who have received training in a promising field, taking into account various criteria such as the placement rate in the area of training.

This list is authorized by the Minister responsible for the Act respecting Immigration to Québec for the purpose of applying the Regulation respecting the selection of foreign nationals (R.R.Q. c. I-0.2, r. 5).

This list came into effect on October 15, 2006.

* The NOC codes for the various training programs correspond to the basic groups defined in the 2001 National Occupational Classification, which is published by Human Resources and Social Development Canada. Information concerning the content of training programs, the NOC codes for the various training programs and other matters pertaining to the evaluation of Skilled Worker applicants is available through Emploi-Québec’s LMI (Labour Market Information) Web site and the Ministère de l’éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec’s Inforoute FPT (Vocational and Technical Training) Web site.
